Our self paced on-line training allows new practitioners to go through the course information at their own pace. Depending on each individual’s background and experience the course can be completed in a few days to a few weeks. AMM is offered in two training levels in order to accommodate practitioners from diverse health care backgrounds. Course participants receive a training manual for all levels and are strongly encouraged to complete all three levels within two weeks. Successful completion of a proctored written exam is required for certification.
Exams are a written multiple choice format and cover course materials presented in the on-line and companion print materials provided with each membership package. When students request to write the exam the examinations are delivered electronically to the proctor and after completion are returned to the Alzheimer’s Innovation Institute for grading. Results are returned by email within five business days. Upon successful completion, new AMM practitioners will receive a registration certificate and AMM photo ID (for facility use). Certification is valid for one year. Providers will automatically be notified of the need to re-certify. Note: Staff certifications completed through Corporate AMM memberships are not transferable.
In order to maintain acceptable levels of proficiency, AMM certified providers must have actively used the program in the six month period prior to the re-certification date. If the provider has not been active in using the program in the six month period preceding the re-certification date they will be provided with temporary access to current on-line training materials and must successfully complete a re-test prior to being re-certified. (A small fee will apply)
The AMM Training program has been designed to meet the needs of practitioners working within public, private, for profit and not-for-profit agencies and organizations. In order to take the course it is not required but is recommended that new practitioners have some experience working with Alzheimer's and dementia. Access to high speed internet is required.
Sign up by calling us directly or by completing the on-line enquiry form to have additional information sent to you by e-mail. You will then be assigned, via e-mail, a login user name and password and will be able to begin training upon receiving your membership package.
AMM Training helps transform staff capabilities and quality of care. As a result, persons with dementia experience a better quality of life, caregivers and carers find more job satisfaction, and providers improve their business results.
